According to data from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, sleep-related deaths in infants are now the leading cause of death for children in Colorado.
One way to reduce infant deaths is for parents and caregivers to know and follow safe sleep habits for infants.
Sleeping in the same room is very important, but never in the same bed. Babies should be put to sleep on their back, in pajamas or a sleep sack, and on a hard, firm flat surface. Kellie Teter, maternal child health program manager, recently spoke with Fox 31 and the Denver Post about baby boxes and how these products provide a safe sleep environment for babies.
