From providing clinical services to gathering important health research data, Denver Public Health provides support,
training and assistance for continuous quality improvement across all areas of our department and with community partners.
We use the Toyota Production System’s LEAN principles for quality improvement to streamline processes, increase productivity,
and improve the services we provide.
Denver Public Health was recently awarded an Accreditation Support Initiative grant from the
National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) to pursue work in quality improvement which is central to
national accreditation, a new opportunity for public health departments as of 2011. Denver Public Health hired a Quality Improvement Coordinator,
established the Quality Committee, wrote a Quality Improvement Plan, and initiated using a performance management system to help improve the
infrastructure necessary to obtain accreditation.
